Objective

ALDO was after word-of-mouth reach on a shoestring channel: a game that could only spread if one customer sent it to another. Building the puzzle out of the sender's own photo gave every share a personal reason to open it, turning the brand's audience into the distribution network rather than a paid one.

Solution

The player lands on the microsite, uploads a photo of their choice, and clicks point by point across the image to trace it into a connect-the-dots puzzle. Once the dots are placed, the site generates a shareable link to that puzzle, which the player sends to a friend instead of posting the photo itself. The friend opens the link to a blank grid of numbered dots and drags or clicks their way through the sequence, watching the original photo emerge as the lines connect. There's no score or timer — the session ends the moment the picture resolves and the friend sees whose photo it was.

How it plays

5 steps
  1. 1

The player arrives at a promotional microsite that invites them to turn one of their own photos into a connect-the-dots puzzle.

  2. 2

The player uploads a personal photograph to use as the puzzle's source image.

  3. 3

The player clicks across the photo to place dots along its outlines, manually converting the picture into a connect-the-dots diagram.

  4. 4

The player sends the finished puzzle to friends through personal channels, challenging them to figure out what the picture is.

  5. 5

A recipient opens the puzzle and connects the dots, revealing the sender's original photo as the solved drawing.
