Objective
As part of its annual holiday microsite series, Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) wanted a lighter way to close out the year with its audience — swapping a standard corporate greeting for an activity people would actually stick around for. The brand used the format to break its sustainability story into small, easy-to-digest pieces that visitors would uncover themselves rather than read as a statement.
Solution
The player lands on GAR's holiday microsite and opens a grid of face-down coins. Tapping two at a time flips them over in search of a match; a correct pair stays open and unlocks a short holiday story, fact, or well-wish about GAR, with a success chime, while a wrong pair flips back down. The score climbs as the player clears the board, rewarding quick, consecutive matches. Once every pair is found, the player sees their final score, enters their name to land on the "Merry Match Champion" leaderboard, and unlocks an exclusive WhatsApp sticker to download — with more stickers to collect on replay. From there they can share their result straight to Facebook, X, LinkedIn, or WhatsApp, with a mute toggle and festive background music running throughout.
- 1
The game opens on a festive holiday screen with decorative garlands and background music, inviting the player to flip and match coin pairs, unlock cheerful stories, collect a shareable sticker, and climb a leaderboard.
- 2
A rules panel explains the setup: the board is a collection of face-down coins waiting to be flipped.
- 3
The core loop is a memory-match grid of 20 coin tiles (10 matching pairs); each turn the player flips two coins at a time to reveal their faces.
- 4
A correct match plays a success sound and unlocks a short piece of content tied to that pair: a festive story, a fun fact, or a wish.
- 5
A mismatch plays a different sound and flips both coins back over, letting the player try again.
- 6
A running score increases based on speed and matching streaks as the player clears pairs.
- 7
Clearing all pairs ends the round with a finishing sound and a score screen, where the player can enter a name to claim a reward or start a new round immediately.
- 8
Submitting a name unlocks a downloadable sticker, with guidance on using it in WhatsApp and encouragement to replay and collect additional stickers.
- 9
The result screen offers sharing buttons for Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp.
- 10
A leaderboard button shows a ranked list of player names and scores, and a return button sends the player back into a new round.
