The best trade show booth games are short, competitive and readable from the aisle: rounds of about a minute, several players at once, a leaderboard on a big screen and a lead form that comes after the score. This guide looks at nine games brands ran at trade fairs, conferences and fan events, with their published results.
From the library's event records we kept only games that ran at a trade fair, conference, expo, fan event or brand-run event and have a published number behind them. Many of those numbers come from the agencies' own case studies, and we say so.
Nine trade show games that drew a crowd
Defense Decoder — AWS (2023)
Agency: Wildlife · Mechanic: Simulation & Strategy · Platform: Installation
AWS commissioned it for its Next Gen Stats booth at re:Invent 2023, around the NFL's Blitz Probability metric. The player stands at a four-screen setup as quarterback, with four downs and 60 seconds on the clock. Before each snap the player calls the side the blitz will come from while an AI readout shows the live probability. Guess early, or wait for the number to firm up and burn time: that trade-off is the product story.

Result: thousands of plays in three days in front of more than 55,000 attendees, according to the agency (Wildlife).
Incroflo P50: Defect Dodger — Cargill (2025)
Agency: Drimify · Mechanic: Arcade & Action · Platform: Installation
At the K Show in Düsseldorf, Cargill wanted its stand to start real conversations while it launched Incroflo P50, a bio-based processing aid. Visitors take a retro joystick in front of a big screen and steer a hero through a maze, eating Cargill product icons while sharks give chase. The sharks stand for sharkskin, the extrusion defect the product is meant to prevent. Each run lasts long enough for a sales rep to talk product while the visitor is still at the stick.

Result: 80% of players who started finished; the agency reports a major uplift in meaningful engagements compared with past events but gives no figure (Drimify).
Mastatest Quiz & Bubble Shooter — Vetoquinol (undated)
Agency: Drimify · Mechanic: Arcade & Action · Platform: Installation
At a three-day veterinary conference in Nantes, Vetoquinol was introducing Mastatest, a test that identifies which bacteria cause clinical mastitis, to livestock vets. Visitors played on two tablets, or on their own phones via a QR code when the tablets were busy. A quiz on mastitis treatment led into a bubble shooter with the bacteria hidden inside the bubbles, and both scores fed one leaderboard on a TV at the stand. Each evening the top five won a prize and the board was wiped, giving regulars a reason to return. Our healthcare and pharma guide has more games for professional audiences.

Result: a 78% engagement rate and an 84% completion rate; the agency does not say how either was calculated (Drimify).
Memory Game — Bilstein (2024)
Agency: Drimify · Mechanic: Puzzle · Platform: Installation
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Bilstein wanted more than photos from its stand: leads, with data on visitors' automotive interests. The game was a memory grid of Bilstein parts, played on a touchscreen at the stand or on a phone via a printed QR code. The start screen gave two reasons to finish: a free cup of tea for every finisher and a £200 Bilstein mystery backpack for the top three. A short dropdown form followed the score, and the tea was served at the stand, a reason for phone players to walk over.

Result: 1,560 plays, 983 finishers (a 63% completion rate) and more than 1,100 leads for the mailing list, according to the agency (Drimify).
Toxic Monster — Techniker Krankenkasse (2023)
Agency: Demodern – Creative Technologies · Mechanic: Arcade & Action · Platform: Installation
Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), Germany's largest statutory health insurer, came to gamescom 2023 with nothing to sell and a subject to raise: hate speech in online games. Four players stand at physical buzzers facing a game wall, where the Toxic Monster fires toxic comments down four lanes, one per player. Each player times buzzer hits to release one of four powers, and nobody can win alone. Staff start rounds from an iPad, so there is no sign-up and the stand can pause when needed. Clear the round and the team's time goes on the leaderboard, and the players win merch.

Result: over 4,000 visitors and 1,149 completed rounds during gamescom, according to the agency (Demodern).
Mind Player — Seara (2025)
Agency: DRUID Creative · Mechanic: EEG focus control · Platform: Installation
Brazilian food brand Seara used CCXP25 in São Paulo to launch a snack line tied to its Netflix Stranger Things licence. The insight: gamers don't snack mid-session because it means letting go of the controls. So the booth, built as Hawkins National Laboratory, replaced the controller with an EEG headset that reads concentration and turns it into movement on screen. Two players steered side by side by focus alone, both hands free for the snacks.

Result: more than 1,500 people played at an event attended by around 300,000, and the campaign write-up says Seara became the most talked-about brand at CCXP25 among more than 130 participating brands (Ads of the World).
Echo Escape — Amazon (2017)
Agency: AKQA, UNIT9 · Mechanic: Puzzle · Platform: Installation
At New York Comic Con 2017, Amazon built a five-room escape experience on the show floor where the only way out was to talk to Alexa. Teams wearing mics called out commands to kill the lights or pull up video feeds, in a plot from the Prime Video series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. A run took about 20 minutes, and that is the lesson: the room was the top attraction for four days, but it could only take so many teams.

Result: more than 5,000 people queued to play, reservations went within the first hour and hundreds of attendees made it out, according to the agency (AKQA).
The Calm & The Storm VR — U.S. Air Force (2021)
Agency: Wildlife · Mechanic: VR shooter · Platform: AR & VR
Most civilians assume the Air Force only flies planes, so its Special Warfare roles barely register. The U.S. Air Force recruiting film "Calm and the Storm" became a touring VR booth: visitors step into a trailer, put on a vest and headset and pick up a rifle-shaped controller for a little over two minutes inside the film's ambushed convoy. At the end the system scores composure, awareness, reaction time and effectiveness against real operators, and the recruiter standing outside starts the conversation from that score.

Result: by late November 2021 the tour had visited 23 events in 15 states and more than 12,000 people had lined up to play. Of those who signed up, 5,282 opted in to learn more and 1,453 became actual leads, said Maj. Jason Wyche of Air Force Recruiting Service (ClearanceJobs).
Killabyte — Spark (2024)
Agency: Colenso BBDO · Mechanic: Arcade & Action · Platform: Installation
Spark, New Zealand's largest telco, built its own gaming festival in Auckland, Spark Game Arena Live, and turned the whole day into one co-op game. Each player got a wristband; tapping it at a sponsor stand, game booth, esports area or food truck landed a hit on Byte, a giant virus snake on the overhead screens. Phones tracked damage on a live leaderboard, and the session ended in an arena-wide final attack.

Result: according to the agency's awards entry, players logged 51,142 minutes of play and more than 600,000 interactions in one day, and Killabyte was voted the festival's best game, ahead of Fortnite (Best Awards); the most engaged players spent over 1.5 hours on the game's mobile site (Campaign Brief).

What do the best trade show booth games have in common?
Rounds measured in seconds. Defense Decoder caps a turn at 60 seconds. Google Chrome's Data Defense, a one-day installation at the 2023 Bloomberg Technology Summit, gave players 30 seconds to clear threats from a touch table (Red Paper Heart). Playerthree kept DHL's Box Stacker Pro sessions short because VR queues at events can stretch around the block (Playerthree).
Several players at once, and a phone as the overflow. Four buzzers at TK, four places at the Data Defense table, two headsets at Seara: group rounds multiply throughput and give the aisle a show. Vetoquinol's QR code took the overflow when its two tablets were busy; Bilstein's printed codes worked anywhere on the grounds. Our guide to QR code games covers that pattern.
A product truth inside the mechanic. Sharks as the sharkskin defect, the blitz call as AWS's model, hands-free play for a snack. When the rule is the sales message, a rep can pick up the conversation from the score.
Leaderboards that reset and prizes in two tiers. Vetoquinol wiped its board every evening and rewarded the top five; Bilstein gave every finisher tea and the top three a £200 backpack. The certain reward keeps casual players finishing; the big one brings competitive players back.
Lead capture after the fun, and a person at the end. Bilstein asked its questions after the score. The Air Force tour shows the honest funnel: more than 12,000 in line, 5,282 opt-ins, 1,453 leads. Plan for drop-off and put a rep where the game ends. For hiring stands, see our piece on recruitment games.
When is a booth game the wrong choice?
Spin-the-wheel, scratch cards, Plinko and lucky draws appear on many booth idea lists, and they earn their place: quick, cheap and good at collecting contacts. For a product conversation, build the product into the rule or use the wheel as the reward after a deeper game. Skip the game if your stand exists for pre-booked meetings with a few dozen key accounts, if nobody can run it all day, or if you need lead volume and the only idea is a 20-minute room.
FAQ
What are some fun and engaging game ideas for a trade show booth?
The strongest booth games in our library tie a short round to the product: a maze where the enemies are the defect your product fixes (Cargill), a 60-second call built around your own AI stat (AWS), a memory grid of your parts (Bilstein), or a four-player buzzer game around a cause (Techniker Krankenkasse). More examples sit in the installations collection.
How do you create a booth game people will queue for?
Keep rounds to about a minute, let two to four people play at once and use a screen the aisle can follow. Add a leaderboard that resets daily and a small prize every finisher collects at the stand. Google Chrome's Data Defense used 30-second rounds; Vetoquinol reset its board each evening.
How do you capture leads with a trade show game?
Ask after the score, keep the form short and make the reward collectable only at the stand. Bilstein's dropdown form after a memory game produced more than 1,100 leads from 1,560 plays, according to the agency. Expect a gap between players and leads: the U.S. Air Force's VR tour drew more than 12,000 people to the line and 1,453 actual leads. See more lead generation games.
What is event gamification?
Event gamification adds game rules, scores and rewards to an event, often across the whole venue rather than a single stand. Spark's Killabyte gave players at its Auckland gaming festival a wristband that scored hits on a virtual snake at stands, booths and food trucks, with a live leaderboard. Players logged 51,142 minutes of play in one day, according to the agency's awards entry.
