Objective
TV4, the Swedish broadcast network, created a real-time interactive application for the Ice Hockey World Championships held in Sweden and Finland in May 2013. The goal was to increase viewer engagement during matches by enabling passive TV watchers to become active participants through an interactive second-screen experience.
Solution
Viewers used a mobile app during live hockey matches to answer real-time quiz questions and participate in in-game challenges synchronized with the broadcast. Participants could accumulate points and earn the chance to compete directly against TV4 hockey experts in a final challenge, combining traditional quiz mechanics with live competitive gameplay tied to actual match events.
