Objective
Red Bull France set out to pull streamer Gotaga's fanbase into a branded experience of its own, extending the studio's popular PopCorn Game format (after PopCorn Garage and PopCorn TV) into gaming culture. Tying the game to a real-world meetup with Gotaga and merch prizes gave players a reason to play, compete, and post their scores.
Solution
Players land in a single illustrated scene of a gamer's bedroom packed with nods to Gotaga's favorite games, and can pan and zoom around it to study the details. Spotting a reference and typing its name banks points, while a wrong guess costs one of three lives. A radar-style hint tracks which references have already been found, steering players toward what's left. Each run ends with a final score and a spot on the public leaderboard, with Gotaga's own posted score standing as the benchmark to beat.
- 1
The player arrives from a Red Bull France promotional page inviting them to find all the hidden references, and launches the game directly in the browser.
- 2
The game opens on a single illustrated scene: a gamer's bedroom styled after Gotaga's "French Monster" universe, with 66 video-game references hidden throughout its objects, posters, and screens.
- 3
The player pans and zooms around the scene to inspect shelves, posters, and screens, then types the name of any game they recognize into an answer field; there is no need to click the specific object, since answers are matched against the whole scene.
- 4
Correct answers score points, with obscure or hard-to-spot references worth more than obvious ones.
- 5
A radar-style indicator highlights references already found, helping the player track what remains undiscovered.
- 6
The player has three lives; each wrong guess costs one, and losing all three resets the run and restarts the search from scratch.
- 7
A run ends with a final score that is ranked against other players, with Gotaga's own score of 2000 points serving as the public benchmark.
- 8
Top scorers win an invitation to a Gotaga event, and the five highest-ranked players each receive a Scuf Gotaga PS5 controller bundled with two cans of Red Bull.
