- 1
Players download or already have the free Toca Boca World app (iOS, Android, Amazon, PC via Google Play) — a single-player sandbox with no ads, monetized through in-app purchases.
- 2
From October 27, 2026, an update adds a Netflix 'KPop Demon Hunters' crossover: outfits, accessories, and characters styled after HUNTR/X, Saja Boys, and other film characters.
- 3
Players build a character in the Character Creator or pick from roughly 500 existing characters, customizing face, hairstyle, and other details.
- 4
Players dress the character in either the film's casual streetwear looks or its K-pop-style stage costumes, mixing pieces from both registers to create a personal version of an idol rather than a direct copy of a film character.
- 5
Players place the character in any of the game's 90+ locations — hotel, beach, a show's set, restaurant, and others — to stage a scene.
- 6
Players open the in-game Music Player, the same feature previously used for tracks by Olivia Rodrigo and SIENNA SPIRO, now showing the collaboration's new player.
- 7
Players pick one of four film songs — 'How It's Done', 'Golden', 'Soda Pop', or 'Your Idol' — which plays in the background while they continue role-playing, staging concerts, decorating rooms, and exploring locations.
- 8
The songs are available only for a limited time and are removed from the player after launch.
- 9
In a separate part of the deal, Netflix subscribers download the free Toca Boca Jr Kitchen NETFLIX app (iOS/Android) from the Netflix Playground library, finding it fully re-skinned for the film with the song 'Golden' playing in the menu and HUNTR/X-style references scattered across stages and characters.
- 10
Players open a fridge, select ingredients, and use five kitchen tools — including cutting, frying, and juicing — to prepare themed dishes for the group's members, with guests reacting to the results in a mukbang-style presentation.
Objective
KPop Demon Hunters is Netflix's most-watched film, and the studio wants it to keep living beyond the screen rather than being watched once and shelved. Handing the IP to a sandbox where kids already role-play the movie lets the audience keep the story going themselves. For Spin Master's Toca Boca, the tie-in brings a hit franchise into its music-collaboration line-up (following Conan Gray, KATSEYE and Wicked) to pull in and re-engage players.
Solution
Players update Toca Boca World and find new HUNTR/X and Saja Boys-inspired outfits waiting in two styles, everyday looks and K-pop stage looks, which they can mix and match onto their own characters. A new music player appears alongside the wardrobe, loaded for a limited time with four songs from the film — "How It's Done," "Golden," "Soda Pop" and "Your Idol" — that players pick and play as background music while they act out scenes anywhere in the game's open world. There's no set path or finish line: a session ends whenever the player stops building their own story. Separately, subscribers get a second, smaller dose of the same franchise in Netflix Playground, where Toca Boca Jr Kitchen's menu now features a mukbang-style kitchen, the song "Golden," and dishes themed around the group's members.
