Objective

Accept and Napalm Records needed to turn a February album announcement into pre-saves and early streams ahead of the April 26, 2024 release of "Humanoid." Gating the game behind a pre-save on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, or Deezer made fans trade a genuine commitment for access, while also growing the band's streaming follower base so the lift would outlast the campaign.

Solution

To get in, the player logs in with a streaming account, which doubles as a pre-save of the album, and lands inside a control room built around the cover art's AI-robot regime. Hidden objects are tucked throughout the scene, and the band's own social posts supply the clues for where to look, so hunting usually means checking Instagram or Twitter, then coming back to search the room. Clicking an object activates it, streaming the track it unlocks right there on the page and revealing a piece of the story along with the next thing to find. Each visit ends with a fragment uncovered rather than the whole picture, pulling the player back as new clues and tracks drop across the ten weeks before release. The clues collected all point to one finish: reprogramming the robot from the cover and saving humanity.

How it plays

6 steps
  1. 1

The player lands on a title screen for Accept's album "Humanoid" and must pre-save the album through a connected streaming account (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, TIDAL, or Deezer) to unlock entry.

  2. 2

Entry drops the player into a control room set in the repressive AI-robot regime depicted on the album cover art.

  3. 3

The core loop is a hidden-object hunt: the player scans the control room for items planted in the scene, using clues the band posts on social media to know what to look for and where.

  4. 4

Each item found unlocks new content: album tracks that play back inside the experience, plus other pieces of the album's world.

  5. 5

Content unlocks on a schedule tied to the album's singles, so the player returns to the site over time to tackle newly opened challenges as more of the record is released.

  6. 6

The overarching goal is to reprogram the AI robot from the cover art and save humanity, with the full album unlocked piece by piece along the way.
