Objective
Assent, a supply chain sustainability management provider, was taking its annual Evolve conference fully virtual and needed a way to keep remote attendees engaged between keynotes from Erin Brockovich and Chris Gardner, a mini-documentary premiere, and other sessions. The brand wanted the two-day event to feel like a shared community experience rather than a stream of talks, reinforce what each session covered, and hand out prizes that built goodwill toward Assent.
Solution
Attendees logged into Evolve Quest and worked through groups of four to five mini-games that unlocked as the two-day schedule progressed, some timed to specific talks so people kept coming back between sessions. Along the way players answered same-day quiz rounds on what had just been covered, played instant-win games for spot prizes, cleared pop-up games that restated key sustainability facts, raced through an Evolve-branded maze chase and a football game for bonus points, and uploaded their own photos to a Media Contest. Every game fed one running Evolve Quest leaderboard, and the background scene advanced with it — Earth from space, then a closer view, a flyover cityscape, and finally a dam — so players could see how far they'd gotten just by looking at the screen. Photo submissions unlocked a charity donation, and the five highest scorers qualified for grand prizes.
Results
The quest reached a 97% engagement rate among remote conference attendees and drew 3,231 unique participants across its 14 combined mini-games. Gameplay generated hundreds of photo submissions to the in-quest Media Contest, unlocking a $10,000 charity donation.
- 1
The player opens Evolve Quest from within Assent's virtual sustainability conference, greeted by a framing pitch about unveiling the secrets of sustainability across the globe, set inside a sustainability-superhero visual theme.
- 2
On day one, a first group of four to five games sits on a map-like path over a backdrop of Earth seen from space, with later groups visible on the path but locked.
- 3
A recurring quiz game tests the player on that day's conference sessions, then scores how much material they retained and recommends specific event resources and a route through the remaining talks based on their answers.
- 4
Instant-win games are spaced between the other levels; a single play on each immediately reveals whether the player has won a spot prize.
- 5
Other games in the path surface pop-ups restating key conference takeaways and supply chain sustainability facts while the player plays.
- 6
A Media Contest asks the player to upload a personal photo to a shared feed, where it appears alongside other participants' submissions and counts toward a collective total that unlocks a $10,000 charity donation once enough entries are reached.
- 7
Two branded casual arcade games, a Pac-Man-style maze and a football game, are freely replayable for players who want extra points outside the story path.
- 8
Every game feeds a single Evolve Quest Leaderboard the player can check at any time, with the top five standings at the end qualifying for grand prizes.
- 9
New groups of four to five games unlock on later conference days, some timed to live talk broadcasts, drawing the player back between sessions; each completed group changes the map's backdrop, descending from Earth in space to a closer planet view, a cityscape flyover, and finally a dam.
