Objective
HC Davos wins on the ice but leans on ticketing, catering and merchandise to stay solvent, so FCB Zürich needed an idea that would push spectators toward the concession stands and fan shop during the match — while giving both arena fans and the TV audience a reason to stay locked in for all three periods.
Solution
Before puck drop, fans open the Rink Bingo app and get a live bingo card tied to the numbered panels around the rink. Every time a player gets checked into the boards, that panel's number lights up on the arena screen and marks itself on the fan's card in real time — no tapping required, just watching the game. Whoever completes a card first gets a win notification with a voucher, good for 2-for-1 drinks or a fan-shop discount to redeem at the next intermission or after the final whistle. Fans at home follow the identical live round as a second-screen companion to the TV broadcast, so the same hits that decide the match also decide who wins that night's round.
- 1
The fan opens the Rink Bingo app before or during an HC Davos home game, playable either from a seat in the arena or from home alongside the broadcast.
- 2
The app hands the fan a bingo card, and each number on it corresponds to one numbered section of the boards ringing the rink.
- 3
The draw is the match itself: the fan watches the ice rather than the phone, since every body check that lands on a board panel triggers that panel's sensor and calls its number, shown on the arena screen and marked on the fan's card at the same moment.
- 4
A fan following from home sees the same live round in sync with the broadcast, numbers marking as checks land on the boards in real time.
- 5
Completing the card triggers an instant in-app notification of bingo, landing during the live match rather than after it, and the win is a redeemable voucher for a catering/bar discount or a fan-shop discount.
- 6
The fan redeems the voucher in person at a catering stand or the fan shop during intermission or after the final whistle.
