Objective
For Christmas 2014, Disney XD wanted a reason for kids across its EMEA territories to keep coming back to the network's own websites rather than a third-party portal. The plan was to pull together the channel's biggest shows — Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder, Mighty Med and Kirby Buckets — into a single crossover game, with the hunt for the network's own XD gems built right into the plot. Since the promotion ran across every EMEA market at once, the game had to work in one build, in over a dozen languages, on whatever screen a kid happened to have.
Solution
The player opens the game on a title screen and picks one of five pixel-art heroes, each pulled from a different Disney XD show and each with its own strengths, then drops straight into a snowy, dungeon-crawling pixel world. Everything runs off a single click: clicking makes the hero walk, smash crates for loot, and swing at enemies, so there's nothing to learn before playing. Each run generates a brand-new maze to explore, with coins to spend at an in-game shop, levels to gain, and one hidden XD gem to find before pushing on to the next depth. There's no lives system to fall back on — die, and the run ends for good, sending the player back to a fresh randomly-built world with their gold and progress wiped. That's what keeps players clicking restart, chasing the same goal each time: find all five XD gems, with all five heroes.
- 1
The player opens the game directly in the browser on Disney's own site, in their local market's language, on desktop or mobile.
- 2
The setup: Oddventure Land is a randomly generated, snow-covered world where XD Elves have hidden five XD gems, and the player must go in and retrieve them.
- 3
The player picks one of five pixel-art heroes drawn from Disney XD shows — Phineas, Dipper, Wander, Kaz and Kirby — each carrying different starting stats for attack accuracy, speed, luck, damage, defence, range and attack speed, so the choice sets a distinct play style before the run begins.
- 4
Each run drops the player into a dungeon level freshly assembled from a set of tile pieces, so no layout repeats; movement and all interaction are mouse-only, clicking a spot to walk there, which doubles as a tap control on mobile.
- 5
The core loop is clicking: breakable scenery is clicked apart for equipment and collectables, enemies are clicked repeatedly to defeat them, floor food restores health and grants experience, and scattered gems and gold convert automatically into coins.
- 6
Kills and finds fill an experience bar; leveling up bumps every ability and fully restores health, while coins can be spent at an in-game store on equipment, food and power-ups before pushing further in.
- 7
Each level hides one XD gem somewhere in its layout, and finding it is the condition for advancing to the next dungeon.

- 8
The run progresses through three escalating settings — snowy forest, castle, underworld — each with its own tiles and enemies, punctuated by boss fights after the second and the fifth, final map.
- 9
Death is permanent: it wipes all ability gains, gold and collected gems, sending the player back to a fresh, newly generated dungeon from scratch.
- 10
A full clear means recovering all five XD gems and beating the final boss, with an achievements list giving players a reason to run it again with each of the five heroes.
