Objective
Weekend Max Mara built a limited-edition Pasticcino Bag capsule with Kyoto craftsmanship — hand-dyed jacquards and handmade clasps — and wanted a digital hub that could carry the story of that Japan-inspired collection while linking to real-world launch events. It was also the brand's first move into gaming, meant to introduce Pasticcino-chan as a recurring mascot and to turn interest in the collection into leads for the online store.
Solution
The game opens in Paris with Pasticcino-chan, the brand's new kawaii mascot, setting off on a trip to Japan. From a top-down view, the player steers her through three 3D levels that mix traditional and modern Japanese imagery, from ikebana to neon signage, guiding her around obstacles, picking up points, and uncovering hidden treasures along the way. The levels play out one after another, linked by animated transitions, so the whole route from Kyoto-style scenes to Tokyo-style scenes plays like a single guided journey rather than a level-select menu. At the end, the player is offered a collectible in-game badge in exchange for their contact details, and a link out to the Pasticcino Bag collection page closes the loop.
- 1
The game opens on a standalone microsite reached through banner ads on the brand's main site and a link from a brand news post.
- 2
A kawaii mascot created for the campaign, Pasticcino-chan, introduces herself as the player's guide and narrates the story, which opens in Paris with an invitation to travel together to Japan.
- 3
Each level plays as a 3D bird's-eye-view navigation run: the player steers Pasticcino-chan along a route, steering around obstacles and clearing challenges to rack up points.
- 4
The objective is to find hidden treasures of Japan tucked into the scene; items collected this way advance the collection's storyline across three levels themed around Kyoto and Tokyo, from ikebana and traditional ritual to neon pop culture.
- 5
Animated cutscenes link the levels, carrying the player through a fixed, linear route between chapters while leaving the pace of play up to them.
- 6
At the end, the player is prompted to submit their contact details to claim a reward, folding the game into the campaign's lead-generation funnel.
- 7
Completion is rewarded with a collectible in-game badge, and the player is routed onward to the brand's online store to browse the real-world Pasticcino Bag Treasures of Japan collection.
