Grubhub sponsored Lollapalooza 2021 and ran the Refuel Station, a rest area in Grant Park where festivalgoers could sit, charge their phones, and eat between sets. The trivia app gave people a reason to linger in the branded space, turned a shared table of strangers into a conversation, and used the moment to introduce the new Grubhub Guarantee and hand out a delivery discount.
Solution
A tablet is bolted into a case built right into the food-court table, so there's nothing to download or log into — you just sit down and start tapping. Pick trivia and answer a run of multiple-choice questions for a shot at prizes, or pick icebreakers and the screen serves up a fact to read aloud to whoever's sharing your table. The same trivia also runs on kiosks at the Refuel Station entrance, where finishing a round earns a coupon. Either way, the session ends with a promo code for a discount in the Grubhub app.
