Objective
Adecco Norway struggled to attract ambitious students, who associated the brand with low-status temp work. The bigger obstacle was self-censorship: strong candidates talked themselves out of applying, assuming Adecco would never pick them. The campaign offered the most senior job imaginable — running the whole group as CEO for a month — to break through that doubt and drive qualified students into the application funnel while building Adecco's standing as an employer among students.
Solution
The site opens not with an application form but a warm-up round of tasks. As the visitor works through them, a running inner voice heckles every move, dismissing each attempt as not good enough. Sticking with it changes the voice's tone: the put-downs soften into encouragement as the visitor improves. Winning this argument with the critic is what unlocks the real form — the actual application for Konsernsjefen 2017. Submitting it hands the candidate off into Adecco's live hiring process: logic and integrity testing, a video interview, personality assessment, in-depth interviews, and a final assessment day in Oslo.
Results
7,500 people completed the leadership test on konsernsjefen.no; 4,000 submitted a full application with CV and cover letter; 500 advanced to the logical-reasoning test; 100 completed the integrity test and video interview; and 20 were selected for personality testing and in-depth interviews, with 10 finalists reaching the assessment center.
- 1
The player lands on a single-page campaign site announcing Adecco's summer job "Konsernsjefen": a month as CEO for 100,000 kroner, framed as a challenge to see if the player has what it takes.
- 2
The real application is locked behind a "pre-test" that the player must clear before entry opens.
- 3
The pre-test's core loop strings together a series of short tasks; an on-screen "inner critic" reacts to each attempt, starting with harsh, mocking commentary.
- 4
As the player advances through the tasks, the critic's tone shifts, growing steadily more encouraging and positive.
- 5
Finishing the last task means "defeating" the inner critic, which unlocks access to the actual job application.
- 6
The unlocked main test is a real application form for the Konsernsjefen 2017 role, followed by submitting a cover letter and CV and proceeding into Adecco's external hiring funnel — a logic test, an integrity test with video interview, a personality test, in-depth interviews, and an assessment center in Oslo.
