Objective
Sephora Collection wanted to sell its fruit- and plant-extract sheet masks on ingredients and skin benefit rather than shelf presence, and to do it on the most talked-about headset of the moment. Debuting at Viva Technology 2024 in Paris let the brand claim a first-mover spot in beauty tech on Apple Vision Pro and open an ongoing games partnership with Cosmic Shelter across Sephora's events and digital channels, rather than a one-off stunt.
Solution
Visitors at the Sephora stand put on an Apple Vision Pro, and the retail shelf is replaced by a spatial scene built around the Sephora Collection sheet-mask line. Using just their eyes and hands, no controller, they move through the space as it brings each mask's fruit and plant extracts to life around them, along with the skin benefit each one promises. The piece plays out as an event moment on site — there's no app to download and no way to replay it once the activation ends.
- 1
A visitor at a Sephora Collection event or retail activation puts on an Apple Vision Pro headset and launches the game.
- 2
The Sephora Collection sheet masks and their fruit and plant extract ingredients appear as spatial objects around the player, who looks at them to learn the skincare benefits each ingredient provides.
- 3
The player interacts with the fruit ingredients floating in the space; the exact actions are undocumented, but each interaction ties back to a specific mask and the skin treatment it offers.
