Objective
adiClub, Adidas's Latin America loyalty programme, wanted to be first to bring an in-app game to the Adidas ecosystem, timed to the 2026 World Cup on home turf. The goal was to pull members back into the app daily and get them to actually redeem the points already sitting in their balances.
Solution
Members open the game from inside the adiClub hub in the Adidas app. First they pick an Adidas national team jersey, which sets the goalkeeper waiting for them. Then they line up the official Trionda ball and take five shots, each one a timed swipe toward a corner of the goal. Land at least three past the keeper and adiClub points land in the account. The game is good for one attempt a day, all tournament long, with the player's running points balance sitting on screen the whole time.
Results
360k+ total plays from 60,351 adiClub members, about 6 plays per member. The campaign returned 100x ROI, drove roughly 10M adiClub points earned through play, and preceded almost 150M points redeemed — 15x what the game paid out. 40% of winners spent their points during the campaign period.
- 1
An adiClub member in Mexico finds the World Cup penalty mini-game inside the Adidas app's adiClub membership hub, next to their rewards and points balance.
- 2
The player picks an opponent by selecting one of the Adidas-sponsored national team jerseys, which sets the goalkeeper they will face.
- 3
The shootout screen shows the goal, the goalkeeper in the chosen team's kit, and the official Trionda World Cup ball.
- 4
The player swipes to time and take each shot, aiming to beat the goalkeeper across a set of five attempts, needing at least three on target to win.
- 5
Winning the shootout credits adiClub points to the member's account balance.
- 6
Because the game sits right next to the points balance, it reminds members of the points they have accumulated and encourages them to redeem points for rewards in the app.
- 7
The game refreshes daily, letting members play again every day for the duration of the World Cup.
