Objective

Ogury launched the quiz on May 22, 2018, three days before GDPR took effect, to piggyback on the release of its Ogury Consent Manager and put the company on record as a champion of user data protection just as mobile advertisers scrambled to comply. A quiz built around consent was also the vehicle for its own lead-gen: results were only emailed to players who explicitly opted in.

Solution

Players land on a standalone site, ogury-gdpr.com, and jump straight into a ten-question test of GDPR knowledge — no sign-up required to start. Each question is answered true or false, and a bold animated typographic transition sweeps in to reveal whether the player was right before loading the next round. After the tenth question, the player is ranked on a martial-arts belt scale — white belt, black belt, or the top rank, Grandmaster — and offered the chance to opt in for an email with their score and the correct answers, plus a shareable version of their result.

How it plays

7 steps
  1. 1

The player lands on a full-screen title screen for "GDPR — The Grandmaster Challenge," inviting them to take a quick interactive test on GDPR knowledge.

  2. 2

The player starts the test and is presented with the first of 10 general-knowledge GDPR questions, delivered back-to-back at a fast pace with no sign-up required to begin.

  3. 3

For each question the player picks one of two options, true or false; the choice triggers an animated typographic transition that reshapes the whole screen around the answer.

  4. 4

After each answer, the player sees whether they were right and reads a short explanation of the relevant GDPR rule, so the test doubles as a teaching tool.

  5. 5

After all 10 questions, the player reaches a results screen ranking them on a martial-arts belt scale: GDPR white belt, black belt, or Grandmaster, based on their number of correct answers.

  6. 6

On the results screen, the player can enter their email and give explicit consent to receive their score and a link to all the correct answers.

  7. 7

The player is offered the option to share their rank, publishing the result and inviting others to take the test.
