Objective
Samsung needed to break through the competitive noise at Mobile World Congress Barcelona to showcase the Galaxy Watch Active and demonstrate wearable technology's advanced sports tracking capabilities. The goal was to create an immersive, memorable experience that would connect with consumers and generate excitement around the new smartwatch.
Solution
Little Red Robot and Antfood created an interactive LED dance floor installation synchronized with a large LED screen where participants performed breakdancing moves. The step-sensitive floor acted as an input device, tracking participants' movements in real-time. As dancers performed, they unlocked new musical beats and created custom remixes of original hip-hop music composed by Antfood. The experience was powered by a custom Tizen app developed for the Galaxy Watch Active that streamed live biometric data (steps, calories burned, heart rate) from the smartwatch to the installation displays. The watch featured haptic feedback during gameplay, and 3D Galaxy-themed visual backgrounds created an immersive environment. Professional breakdancer WaAakOne provided choreography reference for programming the movement recognition system.
Results
Samsung executives personally praised the experience, describing it as 'the happy machine' because 'each participant would smile the entire time.' Specific metrics regarding participant numbers, reach, or sales impact were not publicly disclosed.
