Objective
Nespresso was re-releasing three previously discontinued Variations capsules (Vanilla, Caramel, Almond) and wanted more than a standard product relaunch — a way to justify bringing the flavours back and give visitors a reason to notice their distinct taste.
Solution
Visitors land inside an illustrated Variations factory where the Taste Machine sits idle, and the first action is picking one of three flavours to restart it. That choice opens a dedicated mini-world for Vanilla, Caramel, or Almond, each built around its own short run of interactive scenes; playing through them assembles a capsule of the chosen flavour on screen. Finishing awards the visitor prizes and adds their capsule to a running worldwide tally of Variations "brewed" by players, before they're free to go back and try one of the other two flavour worlds.
- 1
The player is dropped inside a fictional Variations factory rather than a product page, a storybook world where the site claims its limited-edition Nespresso flavors are born. The framing goal is to discover how these Variations are made.
- 2
At the center of the factory stands the Taste Machine, an idle contraption the player must restart before anything else can happen.
- 3
Restarting the machine means picking one of three flavors — Vanilla, Caramel, or Almond — a branching choice that sends the player into that flavor's own dedicated world within the site.
- 4
Each flavor world runs its own short series of interactive challenges, distinct mini-games built around that flavor (one module is billed as the "Caramel Game").
- 5
Finishing the flavor's challenges culminates in the machine brewing a capsule of coffee, delivered to the player as the tangible payoff of the sequence.
- 6
Completion also unlocks promised prizes and goodies, and the player's result is added to a running global tally of every Variations capsule created worldwide, a hook meant to draw players back to play again.
