Objective
NHK built the game to promote the March 2016 premiere of its big-budget drama "Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit," giving fans a way to step into the show's world directly from its official site in the run-up to launch.
Solution
Players open the "Moribito Quest" page on the drama's official NHK site and set off on a journey through New Yogo, the fictional empire from the story, accompanied by chibi versions of the series' leads, Balsa and Tanda. The core challenge is an escape: the player keeps moving to stay ahead of the monster Rarunga, racking up a step count as the run continues — some players reported clearing 300 steps. When the run ends, the game invites players to post their result on social media under the hashtag #MoribitoQuest.
- 1
The player opens "Moribito Quest," a browser promo on the official NHK site for the drama "Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit," and begins a journey through the fictional Shin Yogo Empire from the source novels.

- 2
Guides modeled on the drama's characters Balsa and Tanda escort the player through the quest's stages.
- 3
In one challenge, the player flees the monster Rarunga, and a step counter climbs for as long as the escape continues, rewarding longer survival with a higher tally.
- 4
The session ends with a personal step score, which players share on social media under the hashtag #守り人クエスト.
