Objective
Mentos was running a "kissing" thread through its marketing that year — Kiss Cam activations and TV spots for Mentos Gum — and wanted a piece young audiences would choose to play rather than just watch as an ad. So the brand built itself into the mechanic instead of talking over it: Mentos shows up mid-fight and gives the player an edge.
Solution
You play Nicky "Fresh Lips" through a three-round tournament, facing a different girl each round. Controls are stripped down to the arrow keys and one action key, and instead of punches you land kisses to wear down your opponent until she taps out. Mentos candies drop into the fight, and grabbing one loads a "super kiss" — a flashier move with its own effects that turns the round. Between fights, short live-action video clips carry a loose storyline forward before the next opponent steps up. Beat all three and the tournament closes with a final live-action scene.
