Objective

Carrefour built the island to reach Gen Z and Gen Alpha as an employer, introducing them to careers in food retail right as the school year starts. The mini-games also let the brand put its Act for Food mission — healthier, more accessible, more responsible food — in front of exactly the audience it's trying to hire, across France, Spain, Brazil and Belgium.

Solution

Players type in a code to drop straight into a branded Carrefour lobby inside Fortnite, then choose one of four mini-games, each built around a different job at the company. As a farmer, they race to bring in the biggest harvest before time runs out; as a delivery courier, they sprint a route to get orders out fastest. As a department manager, they scramble to restock and straighten a shelf that a rival team keeps knocking over, and as a product innovation manager, they defend a lineup of new products from waves of incoming attackers. Up to eight players can join any mode at once, either racing each other or teaming up to clear it together.

How it plays

6 steps
  1. 1

Players enter the code 5243-5882-1122 in Fortnite to load the custom island "Jobs To Play – Mini Games," built for Carrefour, playing solo or in sessions of up to eight. From a shared Carrefour lobby, players choose among four job-themed mini-games to enter.

  2. 2

In the farmer mini-game, players plant and harvest crops, aiming to maximize their yield, while picking up messaging about Carrefour's commitments to the farmers it works with.

  3. 3

In the courier mini-game, players race a countdown timer to deliver orders before it runs out, a loop built around the idea of product freshness and fully stocked shelves.

  4. 4

In the department manager mini-game, two teams compete head to head: one player tends a shelf display, spotting and undoing any mess, while the rival team tries to disrupt it.

  5. 5

In the product innovation manager mini-game, players take on a tower-defense-style mode, repelling waves of attackers to protect Carrefour's new product launches, a nod to the brand's claim of over 1,000 new products a year.

  6. 6

France-only, players record their best clip from the island and post it with the hashtag #CarrefourFortnite to enter a contest run by creator Unchained, who later publishes a reaction video and names the winner of a €3,000 prize.
