Objective

Jahneration's first-ever headline show at the Olympia had been postponed three times by pandemic restrictions since March 2020, and the band needed a way to re-engage fans, keep the announcement alive, and sell out the rescheduled date. A free browser game built around the delay itself gave supporters a reason to come back to the show's page and hand over their contact details for a ticket giveaway.

Solution

Players pick which half of the duo to play as, Théo or Ogach, then work through a quick tutorial screen showing the controls: space bar to jump, arrow keys to move. From there it's a side-scrolling platformer run against the clock, dodging obstacles that include little coronavirus icons — a nod to why the show kept getting pushed back. Hitting an obstacle ends the run instantly with a one-tap restart button. Clearing the level plays a short closing video and drops the player into a signup form for a giveaway of tickets to the March 5 concert, asking for name and email. A confirmation screen then invites them to share their win on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for better odds in the draw, with a button to play again.

How it plays

8 steps
  1. 1

The game opens at a dedicated browser URL; a banner today notes the linked contest has ended but invites players to continue anyway. On mobile, players are first asked to rotate their device to landscape before play begins.

  2. 2

Players pick one of the band's two members, Théo or Ogach, as their on-screen character.

  3. 3

A tutorial screen shows the controls: the space bar to jump, arrow keys to move left and right.

  4. 4

The core loop is a side-scrolling platformer: the character runs and the player times jumps over obstacles, tracked by a level number and a countdown timer with a progress bar. Some obstacles are shaped like the coronavirus, referencing the concert's repeated pandemic postponements. Failing a level shows a "Perdu!" (Lost) screen with a one-tap restart.

  5. 5

Clearing the level plays a short cutscene video, with a still image as fallback if the video doesn't load.

  6. 6

The game then opens a sign-up form for a ticket giveaway, asking for last name, first name, and email, with a link to legal terms.

  7. 7

A confirmation screen congratulates the player and prompts them to share their win on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to boost their odds in the draw. A replay button restarts the game, and the screen closes with on-screen credits for the game and its music.

  8. 8

The giveaway awards two pairs of tickets to the concert, with winners contacted at the email address they submitted.
