Objective
UEFA wanted the excitement of EURO 2024 to reach fans who weren't watching on TV, and Fortnite offered a way to put the tournament in front of that younger, broadcast-skipping audience. The island was built to stay family-friendly and true to UEFA's brand, so shooting was left out entirely.
Solution
Players drop onto Festival Island and head into the Baller Arena for short, round-based matches against other fans. Each round, they hop into a Baller — Fortnite's spherical vehicle — and drive around the pitch, scooping up loose footballs and grabbing power-ups along the way, with sponsor boards from the tournament's partners lining the arena in the background. Footballs get knocked into goals for points, and those points are credited to the player's chosen country on a shared national leaderboard. A round ends with the top scorers named and the best players standing on a podium before the next match kicks off.
Results
The island reached a peak of 327 concurrent players, with an average of around 24 concurrent players over its run.
