Objective

Google+ Hangouts aimed to drive adoption and awareness of its platform capabilities among advertising industry professionals. The campaign targeted creative agencies and their staff by showcasing an innovative use case of the platform's facial-recognition API within a gamified, competitive format that would resonate with the advertising community.

Solution

The Ping-Pong Hangout was an interactive Pong tournament hosted on Google+ Hangouts that used head-tracking and facial-recognition technology to detect players' head movements and translate them into paddle controls. Advertising agencies from around the world competed in real-time matches against each other within the Google+ Hangout interface. Players accessed the game via Creative Sandbox (creativesandbox.com/pingpong), and the platform featured a leaderboard system to track agency rankings and foster competitive engagement.
