Objective
Google launched Interland as part of its 'Be Internet Awesome' educational initiative, aiming to teach children about internet safety and digital citizenship through interactive gameplay. The game addressed the need for accessible, engaging education on cybersecurity, online etiquette, and responsible digital behavior for younger audiences.
Solution
A suite of four browser-based minigames, each targeting a specific internet safety topic: Tower of Treasure (password security via platformer gameplay), Reality River (phishing awareness through decision-making), Kind Kingdom (anti-cyberbullying through kindness mechanics), and Oversharing Ocean (privacy-conscious media sharing via puzzle gameplay). The game was developed by North Kingdom (creative direction) and 14islands (technical implementation), optimized across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices in 12 languages, and playable without requiring downloads or prior training.
