Affectio Societatis

Objective

Affectio Societatis, a French law firm specializing in business law, needed to differentiate from traditional legal service providers and make their expertise accessible and engaging to young entrepreneurs launching startups. The firm wanted to break from industry clichés and establish itself as approachable rather than formal and intimidating.

Solution

The firm commissioned an interactive website that doubles as an RPG-style adventure game with pixel-art aesthetics. The experience follows a character named Sacha on an entrepreneurial journey guided by 'Master Affectio,' a lawyer character. Players progress through six levels collecting inventory items that metaphorically represent services: a compass for business direction, parchment for contract drafting, a sword for negotiation strength, and a chest for financial strategy. The site features a character card system with health points, dialogue-driven narrative progression, and a restrained two-color palette (#ebfd6b and #002432). Built by GAX Creative Studio (creative direction: Pierre Piroche; design: Jonathan De Matos, Gaëlle Perrocheau) with web development by Ziben, the site launched April 30, 2024.

Results

Affectio Societatis received Awwwards Site of the Day on June 7, 2024 with a 7.29/10 overall score. It earned CSS Design Awards recognition on May 18, 2024 with a 7.94/10 score, scoring 8.24/10 on Innovation. On Behance, the project has 20 appreciations and 352 views.
