Objective

Ahead of The Walking Dead's first French broadcast on Orange Cinéchoc, the channel needed to hook viewers before the March 20, 2011 premiere. Rather than a trailer, it wanted them to live the show's opening minutes themselves — a first-hand taste of survival, not a preview of one.

Solution

The game drops the player into Rick Grimes' shoes at the start of the pilot: alone in a hospital that's gone eerily wrong, they have to find their way out. Moving room to room through the 500-square-metre building, the player explores corridors and wards, reacting to what they encounter as danger closes in. There's no narrator walking them through it — every step out of the building is theirs to find, turning the scene most fans know from the screen into something they play through themselves.

How it plays

3 steps
  1. 1

The player finds the game embedded in Orange Cinéchoc's official French site for the TV series and starts it directly in the browser.

  2. 2

The player controls police officer Rick Grimes, who wakes up in a hospital and must find a way out.

  3. 3

The core objective is navigation: the player threads Rick through a 500-square-meter hospital, testing survival skills as they make their way to the exit.
