Objective
The Voice of Holland sought to deepen viewer engagement by enabling audience participation beyond passive watching. The brand developed a companion mobile experience that allowed fans to interact with the show in real-time and make predictions about talent progression, creating a second-screen engagement layer for the broadcast.
Solution
HomeCoach (Thuiscoach) was a mobile game developed by IceMobile in partnership with Vodafone, RTL Digital, and Talpa Digital for iPhone and Android platforms. Players listened to audio fragments of talent performances before each broadcast and predicted which candidates would advance to the next stage, mirroring the choice faced by the show's coaches. Players could not see the performers and could not modify their selections once submitted. The game tracked correct predictions and accumulated points in a competitive leaderboard format throughout the season.
Results
The app achieved 370,000 downloads within six weeks of launch. The game eventually accumulated over 500,000 total downloads, indicating sustained popularity across the broadcast season.
