Objective
FINN.no was rolling out FINN oppdrag, a new marketplace for hiring contractors and odd-job specialists, and needed a light way to put the service in front of Norwegians before they'd ever need to book one. TRY DIG built a quiz that let people find out how handy they really were, with the payoff tied directly back to the new service: the grand prize was a day of hired help booked through FINN oppdrag itself.
Solution
Players land on the Handytesten page and work through five DIY-themed challenges in a row, answering each one as best they can. Everyone starts the round with the same score, and every wrong answer chips points away rather than adding them, so the running tally doubles as a bragging-rights meter of how "handy" the player actually is. There's no limit on attempts — players can retake the quiz as many times as they like to push their score higher. Each finished round is logged toward a prize draw, with a smaller consolation prize handed out every week and winners notified by email and announced on Facebook.
- 1
The player lands on a promo page for FINN.no's Handytesten, which explains the premise: complete five tasks to find out how handy you are.
- 2
Before starting, the rules are explained: every player begins with the same score, and each wrong answer deducts points.
- 3
The player works through five tasks on household repair knowledge, one screen at a time, each posing a question with answer options; a wrong answer costs points immediately.
- 4
After the fifth task, the player sees a final score reflecting how handy they are, and can replay the test any number of times to try to improve it.
- 5
Top scorers are entered into a drawing for the grand prize: a craftsman for a day (up to 8 hours) through FINN oppdrag, with materials covered up to 10,000 kroner including VAT.
- 6
Every week a separate consolation prize is drawn: a cutting board with a cat motif.
- 7
Winners are notified by email and announced on Facebook.
