Objective

USA Network launched the interactive WITSEC Confidential game to extend the drama series "In Plain Sight" into a fan engagement tool during the show's debut season. The campaign transformed the television drama into a casual interactive experience, aiming to deepen viewer connection to the witness-protection narrative while driving awareness for the new series.

Solution

Big Spaceship created a mobile-based episodic game where players assumed the role of a U.S. Marshal protecting one of six witnesses. Players visited a mobile microsite (ips.usanetwork.com) to select their witness, then received weekly SMS-based challenges with three decision options per scenario. The game generated over 290 different possible witness statuses based on player choices, creating personalized narrative branches. The 13-week campaign launched June 1, 2008, integrated across USA Network's television broadcasts, print, radio, street teams, aerial banners, airport media, and out-of-home advertising.

Results

The campaign ran for 13 weeks via USA Network and featured a mobile fan club component. Specific engagement metrics, conversion rates, and participation numbers were not published.
