Objective

10 Chambers launched Den of Wolves, a co-op heist FPS game, targeting an audience experienced with alternate reality games (ARGs) and engaged in speculative communities. The brand sought to generate curiosity and community engagement during the game announcement phase by creating an immersive puzzle experience that aligned with their audience's appetite for deciphering clues and collaboratively uncovering lore.

Solution

North Kingdom created XERO, a fictional hacking tool embedded within the game's launch website. The experience simulated a rogue hacker takeover of the site, inviting players to breach the networks of a dystopian city. Players engaged with single-player and multiplayer puzzles designed to decrypt lore assets and 2D/3D game elements encrypted using custom WebGL shaders and glitch effects. The visual language employed PETSCII art and brutalist aesthetics to evoke authentic hacking tools rather than stylized Hollywood interfaces. Community members collaborated across Discord, Reddit, Twitch, and Twitter to solve cryptic puzzles and develop theories about the game's narrative.

Results

The campaign received FWA (Favorite Website Awards) of the Day recognition upon launch. No quantified metrics (user count, engagement duration, or sales impact) were published in available sources.
