Objective

CABLE TV (i-CABLE) held the Hong Kong broadcast rights to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, airing the Games across seven free channels and over 1,000 hours of coverage. To turn that viewership into something more active, the broadcaster built a companion mini-game that let Hong Kong audiences rally behind their athletes competing in Tokyo.

Solution

Viewers opened a dedicated link, olympicgames.i-cable.com, straight from their phone — no app to install. The game ran as a vertical, mobile-first experience entirely in traditional Chinese, built for a Hong Kong audience following the Games. Landing on the page, players joined a shared, ongoing show of support for Team Hong Kong's athletes, adding their voice to the collective cheer rather than playing solo. The exact sequence of taps and screens beyond the opening view isn't preserved in any surviving record of the game.

How it plays

The game opens on a standalone Cantonese-language site reached from the studio's project page, where players are invited to "gather energy" as a way of cheering on Hong Kong's athletes competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
