Objective
Free wanted to turn footfall in its boutiques into face time with an advisor — rewarding and retaining existing subscribers while giving prospects a reason to walk in and hear about the network's services. The game was built to make a store visit feel like an event and spread excitement around the retail estate, subscriber or not.
Solution
A poster inside the Free store carried a QR code; scanning it opened the game on the visitor's own phone. The player typed in a short code specific to that shop, filled out a quick form, and tapped to spin a digital wheel. The wheel stopped at once, showing on the spot whether they'd won anything from a month of Cafeyn to a signed Ligue 1 shirt or a Bridgerton-themed tea experience. A win had to be collected back at the counter in that same store, sending the player straight to an advisor — no purchase was required to play.
Results
240 Free stores took part in the campaign; 30,105 visitors reached the game and 82% of them played it through, producing 24,451 completed plays. More than 13,000 prizes were awarded, including 12,500 one-month Cafeyn access codes.
- 1
The player visits a Free boutique during the campaign window (30 May–10 June 2024); no purchase and no Free subscription is required to take part.

- 2
In store, a totem/poster displays the national prize game and its partner brands, and a store advisor talks the visitor through a subscription action before handing over a store-specific access code.

- 3
The player scans an in-store QR code with their own phone, which opens the game in-browser (it is not reachable from home), enters the boutique's code, fills a short form, and spins a digital wheel that reveals the outcome instantly.
- 4
The prize pool is a pyramid: most spins land on high-volume small rewards (a Cafeyn month, cinema tickets, accessories), while scarce slots hold headline prizes such as a signed Free Ligue 1 shirt, Top 14 tickets, a Netflix 'Bridgerton' experience, or a Samsung or Redmi phone.
- 5
Play is capped at one participation and one prize per person per visit, though a player can try again at other boutiques.
- 6
A winner must collect the prize on the spot in the same boutique, putting them back with an advisor and creating visible FOMO for other shoppers in store.
