How it plays

7 steps
  1. 1

Between October 19 and November 8, 2026, the player enters one of three existing Roblox games hosting a Cat in the Hat tie-in — +1 Speed Keyboard Escape, +1 Kitten Keyboard Escape, or Dreamville — rather than a dedicated movie game.

  2. 2

The Cat in the Hat appears as an NPC inside the game's normal setting; in Dreamville he stands near the spawn point in the regular town, not in any movie-themed area.

  3. 3

The player approaches the Cat and talks to him to start his quest.

  4. 4

Completing the quest has the player join the Cat in mischief using movie-themed objects woven into that game's existing activities; in the Keyboard Escape games this plays out on top of the normal keyboard-running loop, where each key pressed adds +1 to speed or, in the kitten version, to jump height.

  5. 5

Finishing the quest rewards a free limited Warner Bros. avatar item, such as the Cat in the Hat Narwhal Backpack; each player can claim one copy per item, and stock refills weekly, so players return to collect more.

  6. 6

Across the three games, up to six movie-themed items are available in total, including the Thing Box (releasing Thing 1 and Thing 3), the Glitter Trumpet, and the Hat Cannon Launcher.

  7. 7

Collected items double as toys players can use together with friends in-game, and they remain on the player's avatar even after the promotion ends on November 8.

Objective

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation needed to reach Roblox's kid and tween audience three weeks ahead of the November 6 theatrical release of "The Cat in the Hat" — the first film under its relaunched animation label. Rather than pull that audience into a new, unproven world, the studio wanted to meet players inside games they already spend time in and turn a passive trailer view into something they'd actually do and keep.

Solution

Players find the Cat in the Hat waiting near the spawn point in Dreamville, or built into the obstacle course in the two Keyboard Escape games. Talking to him triggers a short in-character quest tied to the movie; finishing it hands the player one of up to six film-themed items for their avatar, including a Thing Box that spits out Thing 1 and Thing 3, a Glitter Trumpet, and a Hat Cannon Launcher. The items are free limited-run UGC drops with a weekly restock, so a session ends with the player walking away wearing or carrying something new — and a reason to log back in next week before the stock runs out again.

One of the drop's limited items, the Cat in the Hat Narwhal Backpack, sold out completely: all 13,343 units (capped at one per player) were claimed. During the campaign window, Dreamville alone logged 386.3 million visits and 651,900 favorites, with roughly 19,800 concurrent players, ranking #66 on Roblox's Popular chart and #6 in Roleplay. The three host games carry a combined 7+ billion lifetime visits, the reach the campaign was built to tap into.
