Objective
ASICS set up a dedicated venture arm to look for ways into VR and mixed-reality entertainment beyond footwear, and spotted a gap nobody had filled: VR gaming and VR fitness had each found an audience, but not together. DISC was built to close that gap, carrying the brand's Sound Mind, Sound Body philosophy to a new generation of players on the premise that just 15 minutes of movement a day lifts mental state. The ambition ran further than a single title — reframing esports itself as a discipline where physical effort is the core skill, not an accessory to it.
Solution
Players download DISC free onto a Meta Quest headset, clear some space in their living room, and step into a one-on-one match against a friend or the AI. Standing in front of their own goal, they track the incoming disc with their hands, blocking or catching it on defense, then wind up and throw it at the opponent's goal — straight on or banked off the arena walls like a trick shot. There are no power-ups or pickups to grab, just the player's own reach, timing, and footwork. Between rallies they can dress their avatar in ASICS-styled gear, and losing a point dissolves the glossy arena around them, dropping them back into their own room before the next throw.
- 1
Players discover the game and download it free from disc.asics.com; since open access launched on March 28, 2025, it is available globally to any Meta Quest owner.
- 2
Putting on the headset drops the player into a room-scale space where they stand and move their whole body, rather than sitting with a controller.
- 3
Before a match, the player picks a mode (solo training, versus AI, or multiplayer against a live opponent), dresses their avatar in ASICS-branded skins (some cosmetics became paid in-app purchases after launch), and selects one of several arenas.
- 4
A one-on-one match begins in an elongated, futuristic stadium arena, with each player positioned at their own goal facing the opponent across the field.
- 5
Play alternates rapidly between offense and defense: players throw a disc at the opponent's goal directly or bank it off the arena walls, then catch or deflect the disc with their hands to defend their own goal, with full-body tracking of hands and feet driving fast, air-hockey-like exchanges and no power-ups or items involved.
- 6
Getting hit by the disc triggers a mixed-reality "derezz" effect, briefly dissolving the virtual arena so the player glimpses their real-world room.
- 7
Outside of matches, players join the official Discord for events, ranked competitions, developer updates, and a community that helped shape the game's rules.

As of today the game can no longer be played: the website displays a notice announcing server shutdown on April 7, 2026, along with a farewell message and a support contact address.
