Objective
Google Play aimed to extend the Zedd in The Park festival experience beyond the physical event by creating an interactive digital platform for fans worldwide. The brand wanted to boost engagement with its loyalty program while capitalizing on the festival's popularity, allowing remote participants to compete for rewards and exclusive merchandise.
Solution
Phantom created a retro pixel-art mobile game featuring three distinct levels inspired by the festival's physical Playground installation: a mini-golf course, a platformer level against a night sky, and a fast-paced waterslide. Players navigated obstacle-filled courses collecting points and items, with gameplay drawing from 8 and 16-bit gaming aesthetics enhanced by modern neon lighting. Players earned Google Play Points that could be redeemed for exclusive merchandise, extending brand engagement beyond the live event.
Results
The game achieved over 661,000 players within the first three days, with an average session time of seven minutes. This demonstrated significant digital reach and sustained engagement with the festival's audience.
