Objective
GE launched its Ecomagination initiative in May 2005 to promote environmental responsibility and showcase the company's portfolio of eco-friendly products. The campaign aimed to build consumer awareness of GE's sustainable technologies, their environmental benefits, and energy savings through engaging, educational content.
Solution
Geoterra was an interactive Flash-based game set on a fictional island community where players learned about and used GE's environmental products. The experience consisted of five mini-games—Washer Derby (energy-efficient Harmony Profile washing machines), Harness the Wind (wind turbines), Blackout Time (compact fluorescent bulbs), Go Loco (Evolution series locomotives), and Ready Set Slow (desalination technology)—each demonstrating how GE's solutions improve energy efficiency and reduce pollution. The game was hosted on ge.com/geoterra and developed by Blitz, Los Angeles.
Results
The game attracted players from 130 countries. No published metrics on engagement time, completion rates, or direct business impact were found in available sources.
