Objective
Dodge Quest was built as promotional work for a client identified in production credits only as DQPC, commissioned through Tokyo ad agency I&S BBDO rather than developed as a studio's own showcase project. Beyond that credited relationship, no source confirms the specific marketing goal or campaign the game was meant to serve.
Solution
Dodge Quest is a mouse-only browser RPG that plays out over seven in-game days. Each day the player takes on a new mission, and completing it feeds into the mood of a character named Coronet, who the player has to steadily win over. Progress carries the tagline's promise — "Get Dodge, get the girl" — as its throughline, with the seven-day clock giving every mission a deadline before the story closes out. The game ends once the seven days run out, by which point Coronet's happiness reflects how well the player's choices along the way landed.
- 1
The player opens a browser-based Flash role-playing game controlled entirely with the mouse; no keyboard input is used.
- 2
Play is structured around a set of missions the player must complete within a fixed span of seven in-game days, with the day counter acting as the game's central time pressure.
- 3
Alongside the missions, the player tracks the mood of a character named Coronet, whose happiness rises or falls in response to the player's choices and actions.
- 4
The game frames success around a single stated goal, summed up in its own tagline as getting the car and getting the girl: completing the missions in time while keeping Coronet happy.
