Objective
20th Century Fox launched an interactive promotional experience for Kingsman: The Secret Service film release in February 2015. The campaign aimed to create an innovative, multi-platform engagement strategy that positioned the brand experience as a gamified continuation of the spy thriller narrative. By combining desktop and mobile interactions, the studio sought to deepen audience connection to the franchise and differentiate the film's marketing from traditional movie promotion.
Solution
Become a Kingsman was a dual-screen interactive game where players connected a smartphone to a desktop browser to participate in espionage-themed missions. The experience featured two distinct challenges: an action-based fight scene, and a location-based timed trial set at King's Cross using Google Street View API, where the smartphone functioned as a virtual compass to navigate and complete objectives. The Street View mission integrated 12,000 custom-retouched images of the station with character overlays from the film. Built with HTML5, CSS, WebSockets, and Google's Street View API by UNIT9 (in partnership with 20th Century Fox, Anrick, and Le Polish Bureau), the game was distributed through a dedicated website.
