Objective
Universal Pictures commissioned Watson Design Group to create an interactive promotional game for The Thing, a sci-fi horror film prequel released in October 2011 with a near-Halloween launch. The game aimed to drive audience engagement and build awareness among genre fans through an immersive browser-based experience.
Solution
A first-person browser-based shooter built with Unity3D that placed players at Thule Station, an isolated Norwegian outpost in Antarctica under alien attack. Players explored the base and fought an extraterrestrial threat using multiple weapons including flamethrower, FAL STG-58 rifle, .44 Magnum handgun, M79 grenade launcher, and an axe. The game was playable directly in browsers and available as downloadable versions for Windows and Mac OS platforms, hosted on Watson Design Group's website (watsondg.com).
Results
The project received 3.3K views and 17 appreciations on Behance following its publication.
