Objective

Jet Infosystems, a Moscow-based system integrator specializing in data center infrastructure, partnered with Habr—Russia's largest tech community—to create an engaging interactive experience for infrastructure engineers and operations professionals. The campaign aimed to educate and attract engineering talent by making incident response and SLA management accessible and compelling through interactive gameplay.

Solution

An interactive web-based quest, launched in 2025, simulating a night shift in a data center. Players select one of three engineering specializations (service engineer, diagnostician, or monitoring engineer) and navigate a DC map with six interactive zones—server room, network, storage, backup, monitoring, NOC—each triggering its own incident case. The gameplay combines scrollytelling-style presentation with decision-making mechanics: players analyze metrics and logs, then respond to real-world incidents such as latency spikes, disk degradation, network flapping, expired certificates, noisy/false alerts, incorrect thresholds, and node failures, choosing among actions like rollback, load balancing, failover to backup, alert correction, and escalation, with each decision affecting SLA preservation. The experience provides immediate feedback with penalties for errors and tips for learning. Correct decisions accumulate points and unlock fragments of a secret artifact per completed block of challenges; collecting all fragments opens the final scene, which reveals a summary of the player's strengths and growth areas along with recommended Habr articles and Jet Infosystems case studies. Players can replay under different roles to experience alternate approaches.
