Objective

Twix wanted to reach young adults with content that felt like the brand's own sense of humor — awkward, self-deprecating, built around the idea that some situations call for a Twix-break to think. Running the story as an interactive video was also a way to pull viewers off YouTube and onto twix.com, where the full experience lived.

Solution

The viewer watches a guy try to win over a girl named Deborah at a party, and at four points the video stops to ask what he should do next — go for a surface-level line or open up, come clean or keep digging himself deeper, and so on. Each choice plays out as the next clip, steering him past his friend Bruce, her ex François, and his own tendency to talk himself into trouble. Different sequences of choices lead to different scenes and a different ending, so watching it through again with other answers changes how the date turns out.

How it plays

8 steps
  1. 1

The player lands on twix.com or a YouTube invite video and sees a title card framing the premise: help the guy get past Bruce, François, and his own runaway mouth to win over Deborah.

  2. 2

An HD video opens on a Manhattan party where the guy (Adam Pally) meets Deborah (Abigail Spencer) and a spark builds; the player just watches until the first choice arrives.

  3. 3

The core loop is a branching video: at four stops the video pauses and offers two options framed as attitudes rather than exact lines (for instance, "be shallow" versus "be deep"), and clicking one resumes the scene played out in that tone.

  4. 4

Obstacles complicate the pursuit — Deborah's friend Bruce and her ex François — and each appearance forces another choice about how the guy handles them.

  5. 5

One fork is explicitly moral: keep up an ongoing charade about himself or tell the truth.

  6. 6

The branch built around Twix's signature beat has the guy overstep by inviting Deborah home too soon; the video holds on him chewing a Twix bar while he stalls for a save.

  7. 7

That save plays out as a scene where he brings her to a shabby apartment and explains it away (a renovation, or a robbery, depending on the branch), and the player sees whether the excuse convinces her.

  8. 8

Endings vary with the combination of choices made; a successful run closes with an on-brand sign-off ("Twix salutes you"), the story can be replayed with different picks, and the individual branch videos were later gathered into a YouTube playlist.
