Objective
With Le Mans 2021 under attendance restrictions, most of the Alpine Elf Matmut Endurance Team's supporters couldn't get to the circuit to watch car #36 race. The team built a virtual fan zone so fans could follow the crew and stay inside the brand's world for the whole race week from home, while giving title partners Alpine, ELF and Matmut a branded space to reach them.
Solution
A splash screen greets visitors with three promises — feel, play, share — then drops them onto an illustrated fan-zone map they drag and zoom around. Scattered across it are avatars to click on and six hidden bonuses to track down; talking to an avatar opens a reflex-testing mini-game from one of the partners, with signed team merchandise, shop discount codes and wallpapers up for grabs. A separate Live tab streams the race and onboard footage from the Alpine A480 #36, alongside the car's specs, driver line-up and championship standing, so a visit can end with a race check-in as easily as a prize hunt. An AR mode lets fans project the fan-zone world into their own room, mirrored by a matching AR display at a physical team stand in the Le Mans village.
- 1
The experience opens on a splash screen bearing the Alpine Elf Matmut Endurance Team crest and the #fanzone36 mark, laying out three promises — feel, play, share — with a single Enter button to proceed.
- 2
Entering drops the player into an illustrated, overhead 3D fan zone that they navigate by clicking and dragging to pan and scrolling to zoom in and out.
- 3
A visible counter tracks progress toward finding six hidden bonuses; players hunt for them by dragging around the map to locate avatars scattered through the zone and clicking to talk to them.
- 4
Talking to an avatar can open a partner-branded mini-game — styled in Matmut or ELF colours and framed as a test of a racing driver's reflexes — and winning it yields prizes such as signed team merchandise (shirts, driver race suits), shop discount codes, and wallpapers among the hidden bonuses.
- 5
From the fan zone, players can switch to a separate Live area built to follow the Alpine A480 #36 during the race, featuring race video and onboard camera feeds.
- 6
The Live area frames the stream with supporting context: the team's championship standing, technical details of the Alpine A480 Le Mans Hypercar, and the driver line-up.
- 7
An augmented-reality animation lets fans project the race world into their own home through the device, the same AR experience also offered at the team's physical stand at the Le Mans event.
