Objective

Domino's built the game to keep its Piece of the Pie Rewards program top of mind right after expanding it, in fall 2017, to cover phone, in-restaurant, and online orders — the app reminded members that every order type now earned points, not just app orders. It also gave the brand's "Beautifully Easy" TV commercial a second life by putting players inside the same giant Rube Goldberg machine from the ad, and doubled as a sign-up funnel: anyone not already a Rewards member was sent to join before they could play.

Solution

Piece of the Pie Pursuit is a free, standalone arcade app — not a mini-game tucked into Domino's ordering app — built entirely inside that Rube Goldberg contraption from the commercial. Players work through six short, physics-driven levels set at different stops along the machine: racing a wheeled pizza cutter down a track while grabbing time-boosting pickups, launching out of a giant sauce-ladle catapult, rolling a ball through a Monkey Ball–style course, steering a fan-powered balloon, and guiding marbles through a tunnel puzzle. Clearing all six levels doesn't just end the session — it converts into 10 real Piece of the Pie Rewards points, which land on the player's account after their next qualifying order of $10 or more.

Results

In its first week on iOS, the app collected 151 App Store reviews averaging 2.2 stars. On Android it reportedly passed 100,000 downloads, with an average rating of 2.52 out of 5 across 620 ratings, per AppBrain search-result data that couldn't be independently confirmed on the app's own listing.

How it plays

8 steps
  1. 1

Playing requires membership in Domino's Piece of the Pie Rewards loyalty program; a non-member first creates a Pizza Profile at dominos.com/rewards or in the Domino's app, then downloads the free Piece of the Pie Pursuit app on iOS or Android.

  2. 2

The game drops the player inside the actual Rube Goldberg machine built for Domino's "Beautifully Easy" TV commercial, a pizza-themed contraption filled with recognizable Domino's props and the mascot The Noid.

  3. 3

The campaign is structured as six levels of different types that unlock in sequence, with checkpoints inside each level so a mistake doesn't send the player back to the start.

  4. 4

One level has the player steer a pizza-cutter vehicle around a track against a timer; another has them use a sauce-ladle "spoodle" as a catapult to launch an object into the machine's next section.

  5. 5

Elsewhere the player rolls a ball toward a goal while avoiding holes in the floor, Super Monkey Ball-style, and in a separate level steers a floating balloon through fan-driven air currents to stay on course.

  6. 6

Another level has the player guide a stream of marbles into the correct opening across several phases, with an effectively unlimited marble supply that forgives misses, while a simpler segment has them roll sideways from platform to platform.

  7. 7

The campaign closes with a final 3D level that repeats the ball-rolling mechanic with heavier, less responsive controls, scored with a star rating that gives the only reason to replay; a full run takes about ten minutes, set to a single ambient music track over tech-demo-level visuals.

  8. 8

After clearing all six levels, the player enters the email address tied to their Rewards account to link the result to the loyalty program, which credits 10 bonus points once they place a qualifying order of $10 or more, stacking with the program's standard rate of 10 points per $10 order that can be redeemed at 60 points for a free medium two-topping pizza.
