Objective
Sheriff Callie's Wild West is a preschool mainstay for Disney Junior, and the network wanted a way to keep 3-year-olds and up coming back to its digital properties between broadcast episodes. Deputy For A Day extends the show's world into a game so kids can spend time with Callie and her town outside the TV schedule, while quietly practising early-learning skills like matching, colour recognition and mixing.
Solution
Kids sign on as Sheriff Callie's new deputy and work through three short mini-games set around Nice and Friendly Acres, tapping or dragging on desktop, tablet or phone. In one, they hand out the right item to each townsperson who asks; in another, they mix colours to pour the correct drink; in the third, they chase down loose cows and herd them back where they belong. A rookie or hero difficulty setting adjusts the challenge, and short cutscenes with the show's characters link each round together. Finishing a mini-game earns one third of a sheriff's star, and once all three pieces are collected, the game unlocks a final chase scene where the player helps Callie corner the town outlaw.
- 1
The game opens on a title screen with a Play button and a sound toggle; starting it plays a short, skippable cutscene that sets up the town's troubles.
- 2
A level-select screen offers three mini-games — Sharing is Caring, Thirsty Work, and Cattle Chaos — playable in any order, each worth one third of a sheriff's star; before each one the player picks a difficulty, rookie or hero.
- 3
Every mini-game opens with its own skippable cutscene and a tutorial screen explaining its rules, with a help button that reopens the tutorial at any time.
- 4
In Sharing is Caring, townsfolk (two on rookie, three on hero) call out for specific items scattered among decoys on the ground; the player drags each requested item to the resident who asked for it, with no timer and no penalty for a wrong delivery, completing six rounds to earn the star piece.
- 5
In Thirsty Work, the player drags a fruit or vegetable into a blender and pulls a lever to juice it, matching the drink's color to a customer's order; on hero difficulty, when no single fruit matches, two different-colored fruits can be combined to blend the right color, again over six rounds.
- 6
In Cattle Chaos, the player pans and drags across the town to spot six hidden cows; on hero difficulty, finding a cow triggers a horseback chase where the player taps rapidly several times to catch it.
- 7
Completing all three mini-games assembles the full sheriff's star and unlocks a final mission alongside Sheriff Callie.
- 8
In the finale, the player clicks an apple barrel to topple it and stop a fleeing bandit, then makes a swipe gesture to slide the jail cell door shut, closing out the game.
