Objective

Cerveja Magnífica, an Ambev beer brand, wanted to root itself in the culture of Maranhão rather than just advertise there, so it partnered with local comedy troupe Pão com OvO to build what its agency calls the first game ever made in and for the state, drawing on a well-known regional legend to make the brand feel like a local one.

Solution

Players pick a character and take off running through a scrolling, retro-styled version of Maranhão, dodging obstacles that pop up along the route while grabbing tampinhas — the beer's bottle caps — for points. Get hit three times and the run ends, with the final score submitted to a leaderboard players can check against daily, weekly, and all-time rankings, alongside achievements to unlock along the way. A later carnival-themed update added its own storyline, casting players as helpers to bottle collectors trying to earn enough to enjoy the festival.

How it plays

9 steps
  1. 1

The game's hook starts outside the app: passersby near the historic Fonte do Ribeirão fountain in São Luís hear the legendary Enchanted Snake roaring from inside the monument, via a speaker hidden in the fountain, which points them toward the game.

  2. 2

Players install Corre, Siô! for free from Google Play, listed under publisher AMBEV SA with a 17+ rating for alcohol content.

  3. 3

An opening screen sets up the run with the legend: the snake may have woken or it may be a dream, so either way the player is told to grab tampinhas and run.

  4. 4

Before each run, the player picks a character from the roster of available heroes.

  5. 5

The run itself is an endless runner in a retro style: the character moves forward automatically through recognizable Maranhão scenery while the player dodges obstacles and collects tampinhas (bottle caps), which serve as the run's currency and score; three collisions end the run.

  6. 6

When a run ends, its distance and collected items feed into an overall leaderboard where the player sees their rank against everyone else.

  7. 7

Players can also open an achievements screen, a separate set of goals tracked across runs rather than within a single one.

  8. 8

A later update added daily and weekly leaderboards alongside the all-time one, letting players compete over short cycles instead of only chasing top scores over time.

  9. 9

A carnival-themed version reuses the same bottle-cap-collecting loop but frames it as helping can collectors earn money for carnival, with carnival scenery and content in place of the regular run.
