Objective
Care Bears — a franchise rooted in the 1980s — needed a way back into the attention of kids and teens who'd largely moved past linear TV, and Roblox was where that audience already spent its time. Cloudco wanted players to feel like they'd stepped inside the show itself rather than into a short-lived marketing stunt, and to grow a lasting community around the brand — Discord, UGC creators, crossovers — through organic reach instead of paid media.
Solution
Players load into Care-A-Lot as one of the classic Care Bears, each with a signature power, and run, jump, and glide across open zones of the map hunting for Seeds of Caring. Collecting enough seeds unlocks a new bear or companion, so the roster of playable characters keeps growing the longer someone stays. Along the way there are puzzles to solve and stranded characters to rescue, with no health bar or game-over screen, so younger players can explore and fail freely. Short clips from the animated series surface as the story unfolds, rewarding fans who know the show. Players chasing competition instead can queue into Team Battle, quick head-to-head matches where every bear plays the same and only looks differ.
Results
The game passed 1 million visits within 8–9 days of its September 2024 launch, reached 5 million by the end of that November, and has since climbed past 21.6 million visits and 21.6 million hours played, with an 88–89% player rating and roughly 274,000 favorites. About 95% of that traffic arrived organically, without media spend, and average sessions ran over 12 minutes. Players extended the game's reach themselves, producing more than 100 YouTube videos and hundreds of TikToks; the in-game UGC marketplace grew from 110 items at launch to 130 purchasable items by 2026. The audience skewed 75% female with 45% aged 18+, reaching well beyond the franchise's original kid demographic.
- 1
The game opens as a free Roblox experience; its showcase title periodically carries a tag for whatever update is currently live, such as a new zone or seasonal event. No purchase is required to start playing.
- 2
Rather than a menu, the game opens on scripted cutscenes that set up the story: Care-A-Lot has been overrun by Bad Vibes spread by the villain Bluster, and the Bears need help. During the tutorial the player picks a starter bear, Grumpy Bear or Cheer Bear — not a final choice, since the other is rescued later — and short clips from the Care Bears cartoon are woven into scenes throughout the playthrough.
- 3
The player controls their bear with a run, double jump, and dive/slide, plus a hover on a chest-mounted Belly Badge beam that also interacts with level objects to open new paths.
- 4
The tutorial leads into a central hub, Caring Tower, with a wall selector for the game's zones, NPC shops, and access to a separate competitive mode.
- 5
In each open zone, the player explores freely, jumping across platforms and clouds to find Seeds of Caring — the core progress currency — by completing platforming challenges, solving puzzles, rescuing characters, and uncovering secrets, while music discs are scattered as a secondary collectible for players who clear a zone fully. There is no fail state: a misstep just lets the player continue, which keeps the game accessible to younger players.
- 6
Seeds are spent to rescue and unlock playable bears — 28 in total, each with a distinct ability that changes how levels play. Every unlocked bear also has its own secret level, opened by finding a wall decal of that bear's Belly Badge somewhere in the zone.
- 7
Rescuing the second starter bear opens the next zone, and further zones unlock in sequence after that, each a separate themed open world with its own seeds and secret levels.
- 8
Back in the hub, an NPC called Friend Finder lets the player redeem codes for exclusive bears and companion buddies. Progress can also be sped up by buying seeds or bears — the latter on hourly rotation — with in-game coins or Robux.
- 9
A separate Team Battle mode is open from the start, reachable from the hub with a portal back to the main game. Three teams fight over a single Seed of Caring, using items scattered around the arena to boost themselves or slow opponents while racing to empty their team's timer first; bears are balanced identically here, so picking a favorite character doesn't affect the outcome, and wins earn exclusive bears not found in the regular shop.
- 10
Returning players find seasonal events and limited-time content — holiday-themed hubs, themed missions, and rotating cosmetic drops — along with crossover appearances that bring the bears into other popular Roblox experiences.
