Objective
Adidas wanted to give football fans on Facebook something livelier than a standard branded app — a game built around social sharing and an unusual way to play that would stand out and get passed along. Swipeshot's aim was to pull that audience into a distinctly different, two-screen experience rather than another static tab.
Solution
You open Adidas's app inside Facebook on your computer and sync it with your phone. Once paired, the phone turns into a wireless controller: you aim and swipe to fire footballs from your phone toward the action unfolding on your computer screen. The whole game runs in the browser as HTML5, with nothing to download, and stays tied to Facebook so you can share the moment with friends.
- 1
The player opens Adidas's aim-and-shoot football game inside Facebook, running in the browser on a computer screen.
- 2
Before play can begin, the player must sync a phone to the computer; the phone serves as the game's controller.
- 3
Once linked, the phone screen becomes an aiming device while the football field and action display on the computer screen.
- 4
The player takes a shot with a swipe on the phone; the ball flies from the phone toward the computer screen, where its flight and outcome play out.
