Objective

Google Cloud wanted its products to register with Financial Times' C-suite readers as something more than another feature list, so it built an experience that puts them in the seat of a CEO making the call. By turning abstract technology into a lived strategic decision, the campaign aims to tie specific cloud products to real management moments and make them stick. It's the second chapter in an ongoing collaboration between Phantom, FT and Google Cloud built around the same fictional company, Sunrise Cereals, following 2024's Business Resilience.

Solution

The player picks one of four Sunrise Cereals executives and lives out that person's year in first person — seeing their home, their pets, their desk, and the cinematic scenes that follow from their choices. Over the course of the year, five high-pressure business decisions arrive one at a time, and each choice the player makes triggers an immediate move in the company's stock price on screen. At year's end the player lands on an annual review, which walks back through the defining moments of their term, what their decisions cost or earned the company, and how well they put Google Cloud's tools to work at each turning point. Since each executive's year plays out differently, the game rewards going back to try another character.

How it plays

8 steps
  1. 1

The player picks which of four Sunrise Cereals C-suite executives to play, each with a distinct year ahead.

  2. 2

The chosen executive's year unfolds in first person, the player seeing events through the character's own eyes rather than from an outside view.

  3. 3

Cinematic scenes carry the story forward between decisions, with directed camera movement, built environments and characters setting the pace and viewpoint.

  4. 4

Each executive's personal world — home, pets, desk — is distinct, so the four playthroughs diverge in tone and detail. Scenes range beyond the office to sites like the company farm and the raw-materials side of the grain business, alongside boardroom negotiations and office situations that set up the decisions to come.

  5. 5

Five times during the year, the player faces a high-pressure decision, choosing one of several courses of action in a difficult business situation.

  6. 6

After each decision, a live stock-price chart reacts in real time, giving immediate feedback on the choice just made.

  7. 7

The year closes with an annual review that recaps the business impact of the player's decisions, the key moments of the character's year, and how those moments tied to specific cloud products applied at each critical point.

  8. 8

The game can be replayed as a different executive, with a different story, setting and set of consequences each time.
