Objective

LEGO wanted to meet kids where they already spend their time online, bringing its ethos of open-ended play into Fortnite through a strategic partnership with Epic Games. The LEGO Islands series was built as a safe, family-friendly home for the brand inside someone else's platform, and Smoothie Odyssey specifically was briefed as a healthy play space for 10- to 12-year-olds — mixing cooperative, competitive, exploratory and role-play modes while avoiding grindy or manipulative loops. The island also doubled as a soft launch pad for the 2024 LEGO Space sets, borrowing their alien cast and tone.

Solution

Players find the island through Fortnite's Discover tab by searching "Smoothie Odyssey" or entering map code 0894-5724-9591, then land on an uncharted planet split into seven distinct zones, from Crystal Caves to Luna Lagoon. From the outset every zone is unlocked, so kids can wander at their own pace rather than grinding through gates. The core loop has players foraging for oddball alien berries scattered across the planet, hauling them back to a base-camp blender, and serving up smoothies to alien customers who rate the results — earning points and reward crates that unlock camp customization. Beyond the smoothie stand, the planet offers parkour courses, rail-cart races and quieter corners just for exploring, playable solo or dropped in with friends. There's no fixed endpoint; a session simply ends whenever the player's ready to log off.

How it plays

8 steps
  1. 1

Players find the island in Fortnite's Discover screen by searching "Smoothie Odyssey" or entering the map code, then load into the experience.

  2. 2

The game opens with a cinematic intro: the player and friends fly to an unexplored planet in a smoothie-van spacecraft, which crash-lands and throws them out to meet the planet's alien inhabitants for the first time.

  3. 3

The planet is split into seven distinct zones, from the Crystal Caves to the geothermal Hot Springs, and all are open to explore from the start with no progression gates.

  4. 4

The core loop is a forage-and-serve cycle: players search each zone and its caves for zone-specific alien berries (including Shock Berries and Butter Berries), some hidden in secret spots, then bring them back to a home-base smoothie bar, blend them into recipes, and serve the drinks to alien customers who rate each creation.

  5. 5

Successful smoothies earn points that level the player up and unlock reward crates.

  6. 6

Rewards are spent decorating and customizing the player's home-base camp.

  7. 7

The planet also offers side activities away from the core loop: low-gravity parkour in The Void, a rail race down from Star Peak Mountain, and relaxed time on the water at Luna Lagoon.

  8. 8

The experience supports solo play or groups of friends, who can cooperate on gathering and running the bar, compete in berry-collecting and racing, or roleplay as the smoothie bar's owner.
